Staff Accountant (3+ Years Experience)

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years public accounting experience, including audit experience in closely-held companies, publicly traded companies and tax preparation. Employee Benefit Plans, Engagement and Pro System a plus. Must be proficient in Word and Excel. 

Payroll Compliance Auditor

MSPC s seeking a Payroll Compliance Auditor to work in the firm’s Payroll Compliance Audit department. This position involves analyzing and reviewing payroll, tax, and personnel records to determine employer compliance with collective bargaining agreements. These audits are conducted remotely as well as at the employer’s facilities. Our Compliance Auditors are responsible for creating and submitting reports of audit findings to fund administrators on a variety of employee benefit plans.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performing audits on payroll, tax, and other personnel records to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Researching payroll records, reports, and contracts.
  • Traveling to employer facilities to conduct on-site inspection of records.
  • Scheduling and coordinating audit appointments with employers.
  • Transferring payroll data onto worksheets.

Job Requirements

  • College degree or working towards a degree; preferably in a business-related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-and numbers-oriented focus.

Audit Senior

Mid-size CPA firm located in Cranford, NJ is seeking experienced senior level assurance staff. Candidates should have 2 – 4 years of recent public accounting experience. Audit experience involving closely held corporations, publicly traded companies, and employee benefit plans (ERISA), are a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Experienced in performing audit testing and planning to support an audit opinion, including preparing/reviewing supporting work paper documentation, conducting analytical reviews of account balances and preparing financial statements
  • Deliver quality service to clients by performing accounting and consulting services that are primarily technical in nature
  • Capable of handling multiple client engagements
  • Assist with formulating and delivering quality assurance services
  • Research technical issues that arise during the course of audit engagements
  • Ensure positive client relationships
    Meet client service expectations through adhering to time budgets and maintaining positive client communications
  • Comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, independent study, etc.
  • Assist with business development

Requirements and skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform research projects in response to client issues and inquiries
  • Utilize high level of effective organization and time management skills to manage multiple engagements

Tax Senior, International

Cranford, NJ or New York, NY

About the Job:

With offices in New Jersey and New York, MSPC is a public accounting firm that was formed on a foundation of client service, technical expertise, and trust.  Our clients are public companies, privately held businesses, multi-employer benefit funds, not-for-profit entities, and high net worth individuals.

We are seeking an international tax senior to join our growing tax department. This person will be responsible for international compliance, tax controversy, planning and consulting on a broad array of international tax matters.

This is full time hybrid or in-person role that requires this person to be in our Cranford office at least 3 days a week.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for corporations, partnerships, trusts and individuals
  • Prepare analysis for E&P studies, GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, ECI, PTEP, BEAT, and FTC
  • Prepare and review required international tax compliance forms (e.g., 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 8832, 926, 1118, 1120-F, 1040-NR, etc.)
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the tax team.  Report directly to managers, global tax director and partners while training and mentoring staff associates and interns
  • Respond to tax notices and handle other correspondence with federal and state tax authorities. 
  • Advise multinational clients to help them anticipate and understand the potential considerations and consequences of tax planning decisions at a global level
  • Stay current with respect to U.S. international tax law changes and latest developments
  • Conduct tax research, draft memos and prepare slide decks for international and domestic tax planning and presentations
  • Participate in firm marketing activities and commit to providing superior client service

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of tax experience working on engagements involving international clients
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of a broad range of international and domestic tax rules and provisions
  • Comprehensive understanding of international tax reporting obligations
  • Organized, detail-oriented, analytical and able to balance and lead multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communications skills
